Iggy is a handsome brindle and white dog. His birthday is January 16, 2010. His parents were a Rat Terrier and a Peek-A-Poo (Pekinese/Poodle). Iggy has very soft, wavy hair. Iggy is a small dog, with tall legs like a Rat Terrier. He has the underbite, jaw, and beautiful tail of a Pekinese, and fur like a Poodle mix. Iggy enjoys getting his hair shaved down once a year during the summer months.

Iggy was a special needs puppy. Iggy apparently suffered abuse at the hands of his former owner when he was a baby. Because of that, he sometimes becomes frightened at sudden hand movements near his face. It would be best if he goes to a home with no small children to startle him. Once Iggy knows someone loves him, he is very attentive and affectionate with them.

Iggy is very intelligent and wants to please. With proper training, love, and patience, Iggy would make someone a wonderful companion. Once he understands what we want, he follows instructions well. But, as an energetic young dog he does get distracted easily.

Iggy is very energetic and playful. He loves to run and play. He also enjoys spending time with the people he loves.

Iggy is fine with other dogs that he already knows. But, he needs to be properly introduced to new dogs or he won't like them. Iggy also gets along well with cats who like dogs. However, like most dogs, if a cat does not like him and tries to antagonize Iggy, he will bark at them.

Iggy has some minor food issues that are easily solved by feeding him in a room or crate by himself. He doesn't like it when other dogs or cats come near his bowl while he is eating. This is another reason we recommend a home with older children who can be taught not to touch Iggy while he is eating.

Because of Iggy's issues with food, treats, and other dogs, we can not bring him to adoption events. If you would like an appointment to meet Iggy, please send in your prescreening application first to show you are seriously considering adopting him. If you are approved to adopt, and then we make an appointment for you to meet him, you are not obligated to adopt him. This just helps us to make the adoption process run more smoothly if you do like him and choose to adoption. Thank you for understanding.

Iggy is neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots, dewormed, and on heartworm prevention. Iggy's adoption fee is only $100.00, as we reduced his fee since he has been with us for so long. If interested in adopting one of our dogs, please fill out our prescreening application. You can find out more about our adoption process and download our application from our website: http://acadianahumane.org/catblogger/view-our-adoptable-pets/
